Version 2.2.19

This release contains a number of changes that effect minor parts of gameplay or visual aesthetics, as well as some new features. Read it thoroughly if you care to keep up with how things work, otherwise, most of these changes should not change how you play the game.

  • Added some basic plant spreading mechanics, to go with the leaf droppings added in a previous build. Currently, grass-like plants (short grass, and two tall plants), as well as floating plants, exhibit spreading behavior into areas that have fewer plants. The current maximum spreading range is two blocks away, so a thick fence or path is enough to create a boundary. We are looking to tweak this in the future, so please leave feedback in Discord.

  • In regions of <8 degrees of average temperature, in the spring, 1 in 5 chunks will experience rock regeneration through the soil. This follows a natural phenomenon known as granular convection (see Wikipedia!). This is due to the ground freezing and thawing repeatedly.

  • Horse chests now have their own textures for each wood type.

  • Barrels can be added to horses. The barrel item inventory cannot be interacted with, but the fluid inventory can be drained from by clicking with a bucket while shifting. The barrel can also be removed with shift+right click with an empty hand.

  • Added TFC metal horse armor. Also added missing item size to horse armor.

  • Old horses now have a major speed debuff.

  • Removed some vanilla recipes that have TFC alternatives, including the spyglass and concrete powders.

  • Ocelots no longer despawn. This was a byproduct of vanilla's behavior.

  • Barrel dyeing and bleaching recipes now cost just 25mB (down from 125mB). This should make barrel dyeing more achievable. This means one dye item can dye 40 blocks if used with a barrel, instead of 8. This is in recognition of the time investment to create dye fluid, making it more worth it to do.

  • Slimes can now spawn at any light level, like vanilla. (They are still restricted underground, though)

  • Cats/Ocelots will now eat raw fish, instead of only cooked fish.

  • Disc veins previously had a bad height range check, causing some of them (especially Halite!) to be locked at one y-level. Now, disc veins will spawn at their full height range, which may cause some differences in their perceived rarity.

  • Twigs/leaves/rocks are now destroyed when water flows into them.

  • Melon/Pumpkin crops now render an attachment to the fruit blocks next to them, similar to how they do in vanilla.

  • Jade now displays TFC tool tiers (copper, bronze, wrought iron, etc.) instead of vanilla (wood, stone, diamond) when displaying if a block is harvestable or not with the current tool.

  • We tried to buff guano placement, but failed again. Stay tuned in this area.

  • Fix gemstones not being mined by the correct tier tools.

  • Fix another oddity in charcoal placement mechanics.

  • Fix "Preserving In Vinegar" not actually requiring the amount of vinegar it said it does.

  • Fix pistons being able to move fluid-logged blocks. (Thanks to fxmorin and ilmango for this fix!)

  • Fix supports not being synced to the client, causing 'not supported' particles to spawn incorrectly on servers (!!)

Other than that important notice, this update contains a number of quality of life changes and other bug fixes, along with a few new features. Enjoy!

  • The tooltips for small and large vessels now show their contents using an image, as opposed to text.

  • Items being heated now show a bar beneath the item to represent the heat. This bar will scale with hot how the item is, and change color based on the reported heat.

  • Hovering over the thermometer in heat devices (firepit, charcoal forge, etc.) now will show the device temperature.

  • Changed how nutrition modifiers apply to health. In short, low nutrition will result in slightly lower health (minimum down to 200 from ~260), and high nutrition will result in much higher health (maximum up to 3000 from ~1750).

  • Add options to display temperatures in Kelvin and Rankine.

  • Rock knapping now produces particles when hit.

  • Various tweaks to how mud bricks are placed, and how they dry, with the goal of making them dry more predictably.

Filled barrels can now be used as fluid containers, as long as they don't have an active recipe. They can be right clicked to both fill and transfer into/from other barrels, and in the fluid slots (#2288).

Hot spring water is now infinite (like fresh and salt water).

Drinking from a body of water while holding something in your offhand should be smoother and more intuitive - no more torches sacrificed into the lake!

Drinking can be done without targeting a block behind the fluid.

When pouring hot molten metal from one container to another, the heat no longer transfers and heats up instantly - rather, the destination will heat up proportional to how much heat you are transferring, based on how much liquid has been transferred (aka, more like how it works IRL).

Many more items have had links ("Hold CTRL to jump to the field guide page") added to the Field Guide.

Fix barrels not being able to pick up a fluid when not targeting a solid block behind the fluid (#2287).

Happy holidays from the TFC team! As you may have noticed, December can be a slow month for us, but here's a few accumulated fixes and improvements, enjoy!


Changes

Add an entry on Pests to the Field Guide

Wattle is now waterloggable, and breaks when fallen on.

Add ocelots, and allow taming wild ocelots / wolves into pets.

Add some config options for vanilla and TFC lightning behavior.

Fixes

Fix instances where containers would appear to have a weird smell that shouldn't be, i.e. blast furnaces, bloomeries, etc.

Fix a case where vessels and molds having a far too short cooling duration, especially with fuller vessels. This properly restores the behavior from v2.1.16-beta (#2296).

Fix a possible desync with tool rack inventory.

Fix a recipe exploit that produces books out of nothing.

Add a number of checks which ensure that datapack defined data is valid. If you are a pack maker: use the config option enableDatapackTests=true, as it will validate many different intersecting conditions with our data and hopefully catch errors before they confuse!

Fix some incorrectly specified collapse recipes (there were recipes for blocks that weren't themselves collapsible). This has the side effect of making cracked bricks able to fall in a collapse (but not able to start or trigger one).

Version 2.2.0!

As you may have noticed, we've decided to mark this build as a release (v2.2.0). This doesn't mean much for stability or future development - we will continue to be working on TFC in various forms, fixing bugs, adding small bits and pieces here and there, and maintaining 1.18.x for some time. But we do consider TFC 1.18.x to be complete at this point. Thanks, and don't forget to use support beams!

    • Avoid consuming excess items when the output fluid would overflow the barrel.

    • If a recipe consumes and creates the same fluid, don't void the excess input fluid.
